Do you enjoy cross stitching or know someone who does? This card features an adorable cross stitched tulip and is cute enough to frame and hang after the special occasion! It's perfect for a birthday, thank you, or just a simple "thinking of you" card.
For this project you will need:
Supplies:
Blank card or card stock cut to 8" x 6"
Card stock in the following colors and dimensions:
- white 1.25" x 2.5"
- pink 2" x 3 1/8"
Embroidery thread in two colors (I used pale green and orange)
Border sticker
Tools:
Scissors or paper cutter
Cross stitching needle
Piercing tool (optional)
Template
Adhesive
Print out the template above and place it over the top of your white card stock. Punch each dot with your needle or piercing tool.
Thread your needle with three strands of green embroidery thread and begin at the bottom of your punched paper. Stitches should be as follows (from the bottom): 6, 6, 8, 8; after the four bottom rows, stitch only the first two and last two stitches of the fifth row. Next stitch the stem.
Now thread your second color, also with three strands (I used light orange) and stitch the top of the flower. Stitches (from bottom) are as follows:
Bottom: 4 stitches
Second row: 4 stitches with a half stitch on each side
Third through fifth rows: 6 stitches
Sixth row: for the top row, stitch the two outside and two inside stitches
After your flower is complete, adhere it to the pink paper. Next adhere the pink paper to the middle of the card's front. The last step is to place two strips of the sticker border to the card... and you're done!
